Thumping good idea?
Authoritarian?
Bojo wishing to look decisive
Bit of both any and all?

See the safety angle for driving, not sure trapping them in the UK against thier will is right or fair

You can stop people going abroad for not taking drugs already it seems, stopping them for taking others is just in the same ball park in terms of authoritarianism?
cocaine has had more testing than mRNA vaccines I guess

I find it interesting, precidents have been set lately, will we see more such measures introduced? Late on paying your taxes passport revoked?

Load of bollox, laws already in place that make driving under the influence of drugs illegal, same as drink driving...............or perhaps anyone who admits to drinking on occasion should have their driving license revoked too.

Totally agree. Its just noise making.

What they could have done is not cut funding for rehab programmes etc. Treating addiction as a disease and offering help seems to work well elsewhere.

It all depends on whether you are really concerned about drug addiction or whether you are concerned with seeming to be "tough on drugs".

Wonder if he will arrest himself. As he certainly gives a good the impression of being on drugs.
Saw a BBC news article earlier with Johnson waffling on to a sniffer dog handler about drugs.
Have to say the dog was taking an extreme interest in the Prime Minister, it was all over him like a rash, jumping up and down, wagging it's tail!
Maybe the dog just liked him...who knows.

Media reports last week saying cocaine traces found in several Westminster toilets - like Covid, its already here then!
Today Boris is saying there will be a Christmas Party..
So all is well for our glorious leaders and their reports...couldn't make it up really ffs

Nowt will stop people wanting to get off their tits so you might as well deal with things pragmatically rather than chucking yet more cash and resources into the unwinnable "war on drugs". Legalise the lot and you deal with a big bunch of problems at the same time. A lot of organised crime gets kicked square in the nuts, you raise a fair chunk of tax (which would fund rehab programmes many times over), and you'd see fewer deaths overall.

Given charlie residues found in the bogs in Parliament, you'd think there'd be a few politicians that would like the idea of not snorting a load of blow that might just be cut with Vim...

Maybe the dog, like Johnson, will hump anything given the chance, did it look like it wanted to get its paws around his leg?

It's a test to see how the majority react to more strict restrictions on the liberties of a minority. I couldn't give a toot about what they do to druggies just like a lot of people couldn't give a toot about what they do to the unvaccinated. But the more minorities they target the more control they get until eventually.......

General election coming up in 2023. Nice bit of policy to woo the blue rinse brigade come the conference. Aimed to make Labour look weak on crime. Moves the media focus on. Will get mired down as does most policy. Might be a bit hissy if your 50 year old executive in marketing thinks he is being tarred with same brush as that scally 18 year old knife carrying yoof. By brother in law will not be impressed if he loses his passport so cannot take umpteen hols and dabble in hiis occassional taking of a bit of coke. Hey ho.. Seen it before.
