Renault 90-34

Hello all,

I have been running a JD 1140 4WD for the last five years, and have slowly brought her to the point where pretty much everything works as it should. Can't praise the tractor enough - everything just works and does so with minimum trouble!

But as things tend to go I'm now finding I could do with a few more horses to tow trailers back up the hill home, and I'm doing a few road miles with trailers which I feel are getting a bit heavy for the 1140. So have been after ideally a 2850, but they're like the proverbial round here- not too many old JD's in north wales it seems.

Getting to the point -I have found a pretty tidy Renault 90-34 which seems to match the JD2850 closely. (Splitter, shuttle, 40k, assister rams 85hp ish). What's holding me back is the lack of info or parts availabilty, on the web at least.

Does anyone know where I can find a workshop manual and source of second hand spares?

And does anyone want to try and convince me the Renault is a good or bad idea??

Otherwise I do have a sniff of a Q cab 7610 too, but not sure if I'm comparing apples and pears with that one....

any advice would be much appreciated, thanks

The 90 34 model has a Mwm engine, one of the best for reliability, the gearbox back axle is Renault's own, which was used for years in Claas models, not sure about current models? Parts shouldnt be a problem, second hand , the Renault guru is Merlin Salisbury in Carmarthen. Knows them inside out.

Thanks for that, I'll look him up... Does anyone know what pressure and flow rate the hydraulics run at on the renault?- I take it it's an open centre constant pumping system.

The translation.

At the beginning of 1989, the M&P Series 54-83 hp came on the market.
The model marking jungle has models starting with M (5 models)
MWM engine and P-starting (2 models) Perkins. There are A-terminals
equipped with a safety frame, E-terminals do not have that,
The S-terminal has a standard cab and the X-terminal has a comfort cab.
In numbers, the prefix again indicates the power class slightly uppermost
compared to actual power. The 32 models are rear draws and the 34s
four-strokes.

The M&P series was redesigned, as was the cab. the variant,
regardless, the tractor had suspension pedals and a mechanical reverser
under the steering wheel. The gear shift lever was on the left and the base gear on the right.
The comfort cab noise level was 82 dB. The gearbox was also ahead
models used 12 + 12 with optional mechanical
gear. A speed of 40 km / h was an accessory. The diameter of the coupling plate was
depending on the model, 11 ″ / 12 ″ / 13 ″. Agility was now up to date
level thanks to the new front axles 50 degree swivel angle. PTO
540/1000 speeds were available from the cab. The brakes had moved
like the bigger models, the oil bath. The lifting power was as well
2810 kg in the previous RS series, 3750 kg in one auxiliary cylinder and
two with 4480 kg.

Above the MX and PX models there were still Tracfor models with
higher equipment level, incl. Powershift transmission.

A 90-34 is a different tractor to the 70-34
The manual will cover some bits, but not all, engine and gearbox is different for a start
Thanks Pennine, understood it’s a different tractor, the one i bought has a leaking injector pump, and im trying to take it off to reseal.

The model I got have what looks like a hydraulic pump bolted to the timing cover on the opposite side of the injection pump.

Do I need to remove the hydraulic pump to unbolt anything inside the timing cover? Or I just need to remove the 3 bolts on the injector pump to pull it out?

thnanks
