Rental charges

Hi, wondering if anyone can advise as to the rental price of grazing land,
We have a neighbouring farmer who wishes to rent around an acre of land from us for about 12 cattle

Dunno about rates, 6 months ? 12 months ? £50 - £150 / acre ?

But....... Get a proper rental agreement drawn up. Probably cost more than what you get for the rent, but hey-ho.

We don't know the terms yet, she as just said until they're sold on ???

12 cattle on an acre would be over stocked I would think,
if you have more land available, how about putting them on so much per head per week if its short term,
take all ear tags numbers on arrival, terms end when stock sold with matching ear numbers, so its not a rolling agreement, but this does depend on how old cattle is, and how long till sold

The farmer should be charging you to tidy up the grass

60 cows will clear an acre in a day under a mob sticking system. Great for building soil fertility and a quick recovery time.

Would never dream of paying to rent an acre of grass - that size a plot is more of a liability than an asset. A dozen cattle would be in and out in a week or two, I'd expect. Maybe back again later in the year, but more hassle to move them than the grass would give back.

I've had three young cattle on about 6 acres across two paddocks since May and they've kept it very tidy - it could probably have held four, but they would be bare by now and back home again. The spare grass that's built up should keep them into late October, I hope.

If the farmer didnt graze it, a topper contractor would have to be paid to do it
