Replacement for Isuzu Trooper 3.0 ??

Thinking of changing the W reg Trooper SWB ,as shes getting on a bit now !!
Been a marvellous servant , which has had the company recall done on the injectors a few yrs ago (at their expense) and apart from the ECU dying (Lucky enough to get a replacement ecu with immobiliser and key from a scrappy's for £300) and a new pressure rail sensor , and exhaust , very little else has been spent on her!
Had it second hand off a friend , at 60,000 and shes on 92,000 now.
The other half is keen on a pick up back ,crew cab thing , but what is about that people might recommend ,that has a decent enough engine to pull the 12 ft Ifor Williams with 2 big cows in it ?

Answers on a piece of old parlour paper towel please?? :wacky:

I was thinking of what folk that have changed from a Isuzu ,have been happy with ?? Not really fussed about Land Rover ,too unreliable for me!
Have some of the engine sizes got a tad smaller than they were 10 yrs ago ,or am I wrong ?
Me ,.I would change the car but the good lady wants to change the tow truck:rolleyes:

Take it you are looking for used?
Anything capable of towing 2.5 tons should be good for what you need, so the world is your lobster. How about a four year old Volvo XC60 or XC90? Plenty about to choose from. Or a Mercedes ML? Fancy a BMW X5? Something less car-like perhaps? Thousands of cheap pickup trucks looking for a good home, but beware of chassis rust.

Keep it and buy a comfy saloon/Estate for posh trips
This.
Unless you’re looking to spend big money you will only be disappointed with whatever you replace it with. For my money a trooper is by far the best truck of its generation and at 90k is barely run in.
Also if you run it a bit longer and it does happen to blow up (mine did:cry:) then it’ll not really be worth a lot less

If the chassis ladder is not getting to corroded I would keep it as there isnt anything better out there, I swapped my commercial 3.1 as it had holes in the chassis, nothing on the market to replace it so ended up with double cab with a nice canopy on the back to keep stuff dry and relatively safe.

Keep the trooper if chassis and body is good... cross ya fingers with the engine. Nothing else would come close other than a very late lwb terrano but itll be £500 / yr road tax.
