Replacement tags in Ewes

Hi,I am wondering what ear tags to put in ewes that have lost both ear tags as I don't know the numbers, a internet search doesn't really help as it's a bit vague.

Red tags if bought In, otherwise just normal double tags

Are they definitely bought in? Easier using yellow if homebred.

They are homebread cast ewes and a couple are missing both tags and some are missing one usually the EID

Don't forget to write down all these facts in your sheep book cross reference to old tags if you have them.

Reds for bought in, new pair of your own if home bred and cross referenced with the old tags

If home bred then put your own tags in. Do not put red tags as at an inspection that may raise questions as to how and when they came on your farm. Record the tags you can remove and just state that some had lost both tags. Put in new numbers and record the date.
A pointless exercise in traceability but one of the easiest to pick up at an inspection.

That's the way to do it. Easy to note in the replacement tagging section. Just state previous number unknown and write both tags missing in the comments section. It'll keep the most thorough inspector happy.
