That’s interesting that the flow tast could go so much faster. whats the price differance in it and the same pottinger on wheels .

Not sure as we didn’t price a wheeled one, and we brought the UK demo machine. This was on a 3rd year ley, that was nice and smooth, but you could see the wheeled machine shaking about. The skid machine was just gliding along.

We did an update this season. Have sold our Lely Hibiskus 725 after 10 years, which was very stable + simple. Bought a Krone TC 930, cause we need more capacity, when raking for three rotor silage wagons. The Krone makes a tidy swath, but i believe the savety guards are not as stable as on the Lely... Other companies often complain about the krone steering system, but i can not say anything bad about it (They steer the axle instead of the wheels)

Sorry ,I know the op isn't asking about one,but anyone got a Massey Ferguson ( fella)? Leaflet through the post today with very good out of season prices
To be honest we have looked at one of them as well, a neighbour has one and is very happy with it, he rowed a bit up for us last year and it does leave a lovely square row for the round Baler, we went to look at a Massey /fella couldn’t really fault the machine but the dealer wasn’t really competitive with some of the other prices we’ve had! We would not buy completely on price but they do have to be competitive! It has been a bit of an eye-opener just how far apart some of the quotes are on a sub 20 k rake

£11950 for a 762 and £10950 for a 662. Last year they were specced with single rotor lift in the deal. Sounds cheap compared to a lot of others but maybe you get what you pay for

Well it’s a smaller rake for a start! A couple of the Repps had said last year they couldn’t compete with Massey rakes they must’ve been pushing hard last year, obviously not trying as hard this year!

Sorry those both Massey models not pottinger. Guessing pottinger would be another five grand

This is rv pugh leaflet but looks like a Massey scheme. Two years ago they sold dozens of the smaller one same money as now but specced up so maybe they are more basic now. Still looks better than a Polish one for similar money

Don’t do it! We had a Fella rake before the Pottinger, we were glad to see the back of it when it went (for peanuts).
Unless they’ve done a major redesign, the rear steer is done by torsion, with the control running through the inside the chassis. The drop arm only has a rollpin through, and it was forever shearing and wearing, and a big job to repair. Rakes that use a push pull rod are so much more reliable, especially on narrow English country roads with big drainage grips.

We have narrowed it down to 2 and that isn’t one!

We have a pottinger 762, 3 seasons now, lovely machine to use. Have it behind a ford 4610 and drives like there's nothing on the back, great for getting tight into the corners. Haven't ever owned a different brand so can't give any comparison but I can't see how anything else could be better.

Only honest criticism would be it's quite numb to reverse, swivel headstock+wheels right at back so takes an age to start turning if reversing.. probably just need bigger yard/sheds 😁
