Thinking of replacing our current rake what are peoples thoughts on various brands? In the running is claas kuhn krone, mcHale and Pottinger 7.5m ish size, currently running a Taarup which has been a good rake for us.

Took delivery of a new Kuhn 7.5 metre rake earlier this year. Its very well finished and built like all there kit and picks up every blade of grass no matter how light the crop and leaves a nice square row. A massive improvement from a single rotor. If I narrow the mower spread right up for lighter cuts I can rake 9 metres of cut grass into a row with a 7.5 metre rake.

This was in a 9 1/2 ton/acre crop, adjustable cam track is the winner on the Kv...very easy to make the shape swath you want!

The krone and claas seem to have the tines angled at the bottom to lift the crop up the tines a bit whereas the pottinger and kuhn have traditional straight tines. Any opinion on this from anybody that's used both types. Also anyone using the pottinger with the skids rather than wheels under the rotors, seems a great idea to keep the rake riding up on any ruts or heights rather than the wheels allowing the rake down into the tracks and scraping soil and stones

I’d be looking at the SIP 720 Or 850 star rake, adjustable cam track tandem walking axles to follow the ground very well, and a three year warranty that no one else is offering at competitive prices.

Doesn’t seem to be any pottinger around here just at the moment, claas and Krone seem to have the job tied up between them mainly, with the odd kuhn scattered about, put but pottinger seem to get a decent backing on here!

I demo'd a pottinger, kuhn, claas and a krone this season to try and find the best replacement for my lely. In the end I ordered the Pottinger. It was marginally better than the claas but way ahead of the rest of them with what I found when using them.
On the pottinger have you ever had trouble with the grass wrapping round the wheel what runs in front of the Rotor?

Hi, so the 94 76 was a compact line, the 95 is a Pro line, so wide tyres std with a beefed up back axle,
Pro gear boxes so you can alter the pick up point of the swath, so you can keep the tines in work longer to really square the swath edge up, independent rotor lift, and one extra tine arm I think on those models !
