As part of a university project, I'm looking in the views/thoughts of dairy farmers on a self propelled, walk behind, battery operated cubicle bed sweeper. I would also like to ask the thoughts of those who already use/have had experience with self propelled petrol/diesel powered (walk behind) cubicle bed sweepers already on the market. Research into cubical cleaners

Well for a start its goin to have to be cheap, reliable as in all electrical connections well protected from muck, not too heavy to manoeuvre and be fit to be pushed out of the way with a telehandler and reversed over with a tanker without being broke 
on a more serious note id like such a machine if it wasnt too expensive cause if it was gonna cost a ransome id just buy a bobman cubicle bedder/cleaner

Lely has automated some of the more mundane labour intensive barn jobs like scraping out, pushing up silage and feeding. However they have not come up with a cubicle cleaner, so it must be a difficult nut to crack

A proper analysis of cell count/bactoscans pre and post use of a mechanised cubicle cleaner would be very interesting.
Proper account of relative uses of bedding material and anti-bacterial agents should also be factored in,as machines such as q-bedders make it easier /safer to use.
We have used a q-bedder for the the first time this winter and would highly recommend it.
We have probably used more sawdust because of it,but the time and effort saved are worth it.
It is difficult to say if we have improved milk quality on a single years use ie no trend is obvious ,but would not be surprised if it did.It was sold to us with some recommendations of lowering cell counts and instances of mastitis.
