Reseeding ground that hasn’t been done for 25+ years

Sorry, just gone back and read your op to see the indices. Everything is going to be challenged by those levels, so worth rectifying. Do you have a local supplier of Fibrophos? That would be ideal to spread pre-drilling to rectify shortages in the seedbed (after any glyphosate, or Calcium content may cause issues with herbicide?).

I can get hold of some Fibrophos yes, I know a chap with a spreader also so that’s not to difficult. Main focus then would be at what rate do I spread? Do I put ‘more than enough on’ and give us some buffer room for over winter? I’d guess that a Westerwolds / IRG mix is going to be grazeable by 6-8 weeks? Would the calcium content also act as a buffer for Ph levels with the decaying root structures after spraying?

My goal is to spread with some very well rotted muck that I didn’t get chance to spread last backend on tomorrow/when I can get on and give that a good spread then on with fert as per. I was going to use muck by incorporation at time of reseed next year for the brassica type mix and then muck again I’m spring at time of reseed?

Also to add, I can get my hands on an unholy amount of chicken muck from an egg factory that comes off a conveyor and birds are caged so no worries of dead uns and botulism to boot. Whats the reckoning on that?

We used to get alot of hen muck from egg layers and as they get fed high levels of calcium we didn't need to lime the fields that got it

Seed is going in today after the ground has been sprayed off for about three weeks, we've had a good amount of rain and there is plenty of moisture in the surface now.

My questions;

Would you take a set of spring harrows to the old sward and rip out some thatch to allow new growth to come through easier (that's my thought)?
Should I be ferting at 1/2 or 3 leaf stage? About three weeks from emergence @Great In Grass has said but is there a leaf stage to look for?
I want to follow with the roller, do I go in before or after the harrows, if I use them?

Harrows are 8MM tines so can be very aggressive, I don't want to disturb the seed in the ground and dislodge it out of the slots. Am I worrying to much about new seedlings making their way through the old grass or should I just leave it to get on? Should I even roll it? Going in with a Verdo so that's got a roller on the back, I just want the best seed to soil contact I can get, just take a while rolling 20 acre with a 3M roller :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

It's gone into mown off ground that has been grazed pretty tightly there after

Set my mind at easy please...(y)
