Difficult maybe, definitely not impossible@REStracTORATION would you have any tips or advice for fixing this bonnet on a 168, it has rotted away at the front, I was talking to a guy today and he said it would be very difficult to repair as it would warp when welding it

I've got one exactly the same to repair on our 165
My plan is shot blast and weld a new repair section in on low heat
We could cut the rot out then blast then fibrefill as well with mesh
I have a knackerd bonnet here with a good bottom in that I was going to undo the welds on and stitch it into ours but thats not until next year
Keep us posted on your progress
You could also use metal repair putty as a quick resort and sand it down etc then paint it's more pliable and easier to shape
I'd personally just weld it but keep the heat down and alternate your spots
Could you not spot a patch over it and fill it the old way with lead ......it would not shrink or fall out?I've got one exactly the same to repair on our 165
