restoration photos

Looks great. Kind of ironic with these restorations that once they've got back to looking pristine and mechanically spot on they'll hardly do a days work again though!
Retired, and some get a lot more pleasure out if showing them off than bouncing around in them.
But the owner is entitled to please them selves with them, but I do see where your coming from.

I'd rather buy a classic and have it refurbed and use it over buying these budget imports new fake tractors
The old tackle always has a value and doesn't depreciate like a concrete balloon:ROFLMAO:

While were on the topic (and your restorations are brilliant by the way) are the occasions when you see a machine and you wish you didn't have to restore it and would rather keep it as it was? And do you turn jobs down if the machine looks beyond repair? (don't feel pushed to say anything you don't want just interested)

Oh god yes there is stuff we painted and shouldn't of done also stuff we bought off customers that were definitely too nice to paint,
Yes turn items down all the time due to none realistic budget, bodge half jobs we are not interested in there are plenty moonlight painters for them jobs.
We don't advertise and are fully booked for this year more or less.
Our work is our advert and it speaks for itself, our finish isn't for everybody I admit that but we plod away doing what we do.
We are aim to get a mirror finish concourse paintwork which isn't cheap as there are quite a few stages.

But! Some of the jobs we have had that have been agreed over the phone that are "supposedly ready to paint" would make you laugh.

Also to add
I've never turned one down because of beyond repair
I love challenge but only if I know I can finish it from a parts point of view,
Nothing worse than being a 3rd of the way through not being able to complete

We've been asked to paint tractors from time to time, mostly specialise in cars but. Some people would make you laugh or cry sometimes! Had one chap looking the bonnet and mudgaurds painted on a 996 david brown, mudgaurds needed fair bit of welding and the bonnet too, it was all bashed at the front, rotton at the bottom and full of dents, he said he wanted it like new so dad quoted him £800, paint and materials included, well his mouth hit the deck, he said he was thinking £200 at the very most, lol. No idea!

We'd another once looking bonnet only painted for a 5140 case, dad give him a price but he reckoned it was too much so he'd get paint and materials himself, landed back with a gallon of Spencer red oxide(as undercoat) and a gallon of hammerite red for top coat! He then told dad that he'd bought all of this for £40, and he couldn't understand how we told him the paint and materials would amount to approx £200.
Needless to say that him, his bonnet and his red oxide was sent down the lane quite swiftly!

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I know it makes me laugh

We had the same, a guy had bought a bonnet and mudguards off eBay
Can paint these yes paint materials 175
o_O
Comes back with 1 can of aerosol
I said have you test fitted these 1st
He said no
I said you better had before because I wouldn't want to waste that 1 can of aerosol for you to cut the bonnet to fit

So he went never saw him again

Until a few months later at a show

I knew it was him as the red was see through with glistening spout bolts all over holding it together the boonet had a rather distinctive lean to the left of about 2" and the sound of the fan catching the rad cowl was ear peircing :rolleyes::rolleyes:

How good are the restorations mechanically? just wondering is there a market for say restored Q cab Fords to actually use, after all the cabs are not a bad place to spend a day.

Not sure to be honest on the bigger stuff
I'm sure is a market.
Once restored a working tractor my guess is They will depreciate but only to current market value which is increasing steadily
So if you have 4 5 yrs and use it and earn money with it with alot less hastle and lower running costs then your not losing out really
It's what we do with a few tractors it works well but commercially I'm not sure if people would bite.

It does make sense
But people like bells n whistles
