Looking at some claas reverse drive mowers. Is it possible to split them and turn the rears round ? So I can run them front and back, if so how big a job is it. Also they're 9.4m so would 235hp be plenty to drive them.
I run front and back krone, 6m with 185 hp....i find hills is where I need all the power and wouldn't like to be using less, especially in heavy first cut. I don't know if the claas are any easier driven than the krone. Therefore I would guess 235hp with 9m could be a little on the lean side...all depends how much you have to cut and how quickly you want it done I suppose. I don't know if the triples can be used as front and back....I know some setups, the mower out the front is just a front moderate y could very easily be used in a front and back combi
If they are 9400s then just take front mower of and there are linkage points that side so you can then pull them. You then don’t have a speed sensor for front mower and have to take lights of front one and put on back. Have two sets and reverse drive one lot on a 936 and butterfly the others on a 724, it pulls them ok
I run Pottinger butterflies with a 3m front (9.5m) on a JCB 4220 (234 on the dyno last week) and it manages them fine. Is a bit slow up some steep hills but not enough to worry about, I’ve got conditioners all tound too. Looks like they haven’t so should be fine.
