Just got the letter in the post today, confirmation that RFS have bought out RBM as of midnight 6th March. All staff and branches to be retained by RFS is stated.

Is there any truth in the rumour I heard that RFS have sold some depots off south of the Humber?
Originally RBM was being split between RFS and Doubledays I think but they pulled out. Will be interesting to see what happens but I doubt much will change until the top of RFS changes.

Gossip locally is that Ripon are renting Market Weighton and Louth depots . Weighton is a large site and will go for housing development along with Montracon next door , I can see why Adrian Denner would want to keep it
I can see this happening quickly as the developers are now breaking ground between RBM and the bypass

As far as I know Rbm only owned Louth and weighton, all the others were rented

I believe Clarborough depot is being let go, as it was only rented, and doesn’t lend itself to the modernisation it requires.
According to the letter today they are keeping all the depots to give better coverage of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, the only depot that I can see closing is malton as ripon has a new place quite close

And the Malton depot is only a small place anyway. The news regarding Clarborough came from a relative who’s based there.

Unless it’s changed hands recently, Clarborough was still owned by Ray Bingley’s family. It might be a bit dated now but it’s a decent size building with plenty of yard space.

With the way the job is going, I can’t see 13 depots being sustainable long term. Pickering/Malton (and possibly Tadcaster) could easily be combined into a single depot.
