Is anyone else experiencing problems with using a well know energy consultant firm?? We have several applications that have taken 18 months to get initial approval!! I think part of the problem is the level of service we are getting , we can’t just leave as we are too far in to start again. Are you guys experiencing similar problems in the time it takes to get e mails answers, phone calls returned ?

Ofgem? They are a bloody joke. Took us nearly 2 years to do a simple ammendment and get payments resumed. They need a rocket up their arse for sure.

They are a joke , but it was more of the consultants we are using . We have a number of biomass boilers across our farms, and I really do feel that progress is being held up by these guys , in conjunction with ofgem .

In my experience of 3 firms its always been Ofgem holding them up and causing the problems. But yeah you may be right, if the consultants arent literally chasing them 2-3 times a week then nothing gets done and things end up sitting.

I have still not got my grant claim accepted for a ground source heat system after 2 years. All I get is a request for more information usually about 3 months after I sent the last lot. Now they are asking the same questions which were asked on the original application.
I can't get through on the phone.

Hopeless.

You may have to name them?

To be fair both of mine have been on pause for nearly a year, Ofgem do seem to be horribly slow st the moment

Jesus Christ.

An ofgem account has a super user, this is the owner

Then there is secondary accounts, this should be your consultant filling in the details.

If you own the system you should have log in access. Get these details.

100% of the time ofgem communicate through this account with queries. You should be monitoring this as they will hold the account without informing you awaiting the information. Your consultants are not checking regular enough. Get a grip of your investment people!

That would be similar to having a dog and barking your self! I would have thought using a well know membership based organisation would have had clout and ability to sort this out. I know ofgem are slow, but reacting to their queries immediately would speed things up, it seems like the queries are being sat on for a week or so before the question comes to us for answers . How long are the consultants then sitting on it before replying to ofgem. They must be either over worked or understaffed, and the fees being charged are going up. For a decreasing service level !

You are the head of your yard, you may employ people to do tasks but you still oversee the work, give directions, a director.

Employing the services relieves you of the mundane questions and frees up your time to conduct farming business. Still, you should be monitoring the progress of the application.

My guess is that they have an employee who oversees maybe 10/20 applicants as well as quarterly submissions which then gets to the point of overworked. I’m guessing they have other administration tasks to make the position profitable.

It’d take you 5 minutes to log onto the account and check queries. You could then follow this up by ringing your account manager, unless you enjoy your payment and accreditation being held up. The director leads the company.
