We've just launched our seeCrop agronomy app...

seeCrop allows satellite imagery to be viewed on your smartphone or tablet while out in the field. This imagery can be used as a crop walking aid to help identify areas of crop damage or stress.

index.php

Once problem areas are identified seeCrop allows you to record the precise location either as a point or a polygon drawn around the area. The app comes pre-loaded with over 260 of the UK’s most common pests, weeds and diseases and will predict what you are most likely to see depending on crop and time of year.

The potential benefits of the seeCrop app have been recognised by the European space sector. In 2014 seeCrop was crowned UK champion of the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) and has been developed with help from the European Space Agency as part of their Business Incubation programme.

seeCrop is available on iTunes or Google Play

Click here to watch a video of the app in action or go to the Rhiza website to find out how to get set up.

Will NDVI Images be available to all on seeCrop?
Yes, NDVI is available to everyone on seeCrop.

This year we are using three different satellite imagery providers to ensure the best coverage possible. We will also be the only precision farming company looking into the use of cloud-penetrating radar imagery to help get round the problem of British weather!

We start scanning this Friday 15th Jan.

I thought that Agrii had started or will be using this cloud penetrating radar?

We have just started a two year trial to looking at how radar could be used and to help develop the algorithms needed to convert the information into something that will be useful to farmers. This work needs to be carried out before anyone can start using it in a way that is going to be of any benefit on farm.

I prefer to use a pair of eyes!

Satellites are not intended to replace the use of your eyes, but they are able to measure light wavebands that are outside the visible spectrum. This means they are able to detect variation in the crop that cannot be seen by the naked eye.

And memory!!

Memories are great until you forget them, and how do you share a memory? The app records a log of where you have seen things and allows you to filter through historic observations. It also makes it very easy to share an observation. If you record where you have seen something in a field, someone else using can use the app to guide them to that exact location, without having to rely on rough directions.
