Ride On Mower

I need to sort out a new ride on mower for our caravan site and home lawn, total area about 2.5 acres.

Currently running a Countax with a power sweep grass collector but its temperamental at best and Im fed up dealing with the grass clippings.

Some one has recommended one of these:

https://www.worldofmowers.co.uk/sti...k-220-2wd-with-a-95cm-combi-el-qf-cutter-deck

They have about an acre of lawn and it makes a nice job.

Anyone have any experience of them?

I dont want to spend too much money at the moment but do want something that can cope with that area and a few slopes and rough bits.

2.5 acres, slopes and tough bits. Forget the Stiga you need something more commercial.
Get along to your local Kubota dealer and start from there.

I’m toying with the idea of putting in a robot mower set up for the home lawn which would cut area in half.

They are no use for caravan site though with trailing cables and kids all over the place.

Hire in first if you can, commercial will walk through that area for you, but usually mulching blades so no collection?

If you don't mind walking behind a big 52" ferris would do the job for nearly bit more than half your budget. They really are an incredibly capable machine

We bought Kubota G21 last year, 300 odd hrs, cost 5k, we use it on our cl as it collects the grass, caravanners dont like having clippings carried into the vans on their feet.

Last summer I bought a Kubota F2560 'out in front mower'. As someone else said they are different league to a domestic mower.

I have about the same area of grass that you have, though I guess the F2560 would easily cope with double the area easily. Four wheel drive, hydrostatic transmission and power steering make mowing effortless.

Unfortunately they are a deal more expensive. I paid about 3.5k for a 15year old machine.

I have a small Stiga, it's fine for well-mowed areas, but give it some physic and either the shear bolts go, or the timing belts break/jump some notches and the blades clatter together. I had an old Kubota before which didn't make such a nice finish, but was bombproof.

I have about 2 acres of grass in our campsite. This is the hardest worked lawnmower in the country and only ever needs a couple of belts a year. I bought it when I was 18 and had a grass cutting business before I had the campsite. It has cut hundreds of acres ??.

well outside your budget, but with spring around the corner there will be a substantial number of used ones hitting the market, so you can get lucky as a number of older ones have failed to meet reserves at recent auctions but maybe because they need some TLC.
