Ride on mower.

I really like the stiga mowers with the deck out in front. They look like the solution for small areas, and getting into corners etc. I dont like that you cant gather the grass, should it be required.

Anyone know anything about these tow behind grass collectors
, how do they cope in wet grass in March I wonder. or is it possible to do some DIY to put a collection system on an in front stiga mower.

Get a collector on what ever machine you buy . If you miss cutting the grass for say a fortnight for what ever reason to busy to wet the clippings soon mount up and don’t disappear. If you keep on top of your lawn you don’t need to use the collector all the time!

Thats what i use behind the stiga,
Dont use it wet, cut the grass let it wilt then use it.
Does a fair job behind a mulching mower
For leaves i dont mulch just normal mow towing the collector

What are mulching mowers like with damp grass. Our lawns are nearly always dew soaked and due to trees and bushes surrounding they take ages to dry out.

I feel as though we would be very capable of keeping on top of the grass, so your making me think a non collection more would work for us.

Would we get a more robust capable machine for our money by going non collection?

How do zero turn/ articulated cope with undulations and cutting close to walls ect?

DaveW do you have anything available currently?

I bought myself a s/h GR1600 off a contractor. Yes, I know, but with my budget I find buying used machinery and working through the faults works for me. I have the time now I'm "retired".

Traced the vibration to loose pulleys which really have to be tight. I suspect the vendor thought it was something more serious. Otherwise, now I've levelled the deck and adjusted the anti scalp rollers, it does a great job of mowing my uneven lawn which was pure purgatory to manage with the power assisted walk behind. I do collect clippings but find it easy to empty the collector, even while seated.

Another happy stiga owner. Though I did upgrade recently as the old one, and it was old, decided to spit a dummy and blow the engine up.
