Ring dealer again or "feck em"

Not many folk can say they spent five hours asleep in the roof-tent of a demonstration Defender 110 inside the posh official Land-Rover show-room at Market Rasen.
I had ordered and organised collection of my brand new works TD5 110 but some of the paperwork needed re-organising in light of something called 'Gap Insurance', which is the instant devaluation one gets with a new vehicle the second it leaves a dealers site. They were very kind to allow me this courtesy and I was very grateful too as it became a very long day. :)
So not all car dealers are bad.

If she couldn’t understand your accent she should have asked you to repeat it or at least pass on the phone number, but I would call back once more and if that failed they would go on my s**t list and move on to another company. Also if a company doesn’t want your business fair enough, but at least have the balls to say so to the customer rather than the modern way of just ignoring them, making them hang on unnecessarily. When this good time passes.....and it will....farmers will remember those that tried and those that didnt.
I have asked a chap to repeat his name three time then didnt dare ask again!. She maybe new, shy etc... we arent all perfect!

Just shows why email or text is always better
not in my book we get several enquires for goods and services by email and text ,8out of 10 are a waste of time of the one or two left can usually do business if possible wheras with a proper old fashioned phone call it will be 8 out 10 we do complete a sale /service mindst we always return missed calls so long as a number is left as no number left = tossers

Fair enough but you would have his number on your phone so I assume you could trace him through that, or did you just ignore him and let a potential customer walk away. I have many customers who don’t I introduce themselves and if on the land line or I havent entered their number it can be quite a conundrum keeping them talking until you suss who they are🤣

The receptionist should have the caller number on her phone, and if the company has a decent system, it will flag up the caller name if they have done business before. It's not rocket science... just a proper office system.

All she needs to do is pass details to the Salesman

I'm not a salesman man but there are particular times of the year the phone doesn't stop. There have been a couple of days I answered all the calls I could and still missed 37 and 29 thats a record for me. My friend is a manager for a big company he has between 100-150 calls to his mobile daily, another guy is a machinery salesman its a nightmare trying to have a conversation with him as his phone is literally ringing every 30seconds.

Surely, that is when an email is so useful....? ;)

My concern is, i wanted to place the order by the end of this week, lead time etc.
I could ring again, then wait to see if he rings me back or not, if he don,t,another day gone then were into next week, there is probably not much in the price anyway, so best to go with a firm that has given me a price and completion date. Just nice to have 2 or 3 prices on the table.
Is his mobile not advertised on their website?

on the blurred edge of 2 NH dealerships, 1 rep very keen, the other not, there is an £8,000 difference in the 2 quotes, which are, surprisingly, identical, there's usually some different 'spec' in them. 1 rep, brought out a demo, and called back in with written quotes, the other will try and see us next week, and has texted his quote, needless to say the keen, £8k lower quote, will get the deal.

Thing is.........you have that nagging doubt...........if they can't be arsed to sell you something in the first place, what the hell is after sales going to be like ?
Currently working my way through local estate agents who can't be arsed........

I get what you're saying and there are a lot of useless buggers out there but staff numbers have reduced and workload has gone up at a lot of companies. There are times when its just not possible to get back to everyone.
In this case it wasn't even a call or email to the actual salesman, worth trying again with a direct contact in my opinion.
