I'm not sure which is worse about the EA comment about their initial thinking no harm had been done , are they just trying to deflect the press from the problem hoping they dont know any better which is completely dishonest or are the EA really that useless that they dont actually know the potential huge problem they have created.
If the EA are so confident that what they have done is correct they need to get the area manager down there in front of a camera and explain why

My thoughts keep going back to the early part of this thread and the EA wanting to jail the farmer who did the work on the river Ludd which actually made things better against this vandalism by the EA who will no doubt firstly deny any wrongdoing and secondly get off Scott free
Maybe.....just maybe, the EA won't be able to walk away from this one Scott-free

There's a big story potentially looming here and it is literally in the lap of the gods. The EA know full well that it could go very wrong for them.

At least its been documented and advertised on TV but doubt that makes much diff cos lessons will be learnt so this NEVER happens again and as punishment the head honcho will get promoted to higher paid position and global warming will be to blame ! 🙄

It’s crazy how the world today seems totally contradictory.

Nothing is ever what it appears….so much mist and mystery around with organisations trying to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes.

The world today seems to be almost built on deceit.

These are environmental experiments. Take a ‘google’ at horsea island Braunton.
A neglected sluice was allowed to cause a breech in the sea wall. Presided over by EA and NE wringing their hands until breech was deemed irreparable. Sold off to wildlife Trust.....now with the sea topping an inner wall on high tides to threaten acres of early vegetable land in Braunton great field and Braunton village itself.
It’s all the rage rewilding by accident.

Neglect would be a more appropriate word than accident

Intentional neglect made to look like an accident so nobody can be held accountable. The whole issue is minimised via PR.

Yet if a farmer does anything to defend themselves they are obstructed, and held directly accountable for “breaking the law”, an issue which is maximised via PR.

All deceit aimed at maintaining control.

EA, Natural England, Red Tractor….they’re all at it in exactly the same way.

It just confirms to me the incompetence that Government Agencies get away with compared with private individuals and private enterprise, absolutely dispicable. (n)
Which is why I am in favour of small government, lower taxes and engendering a sense of self reliance and autonomy in everyone (whilst still maintaining a safety net), however since Mrs Thatcher/Ronald Reagan those Conservative values seem to have gone out of fashion, everyone seems to want Mummy (Government) to do all their thinking and take all responsibility for everything. That is why Jacob Rees Mogg was criticised for saying he would have ignored the fire service advice and got out of his flat if the block was on fire!

Does seem strange if a farmer makes a mistake regarding ministry/ ea it’s deliberate
but when it’s the other way round it’s a mistake
