Whose civil rights?

The EA have to comply with a FOI the same as anyone. You could ask to see the contract requirements stated in the tender that was created and released by the EA- they would have no reason not to.
I was being facetious. If they think replying will cause them embarrassment, they'll claim they can't reply because of covid. And if that doesn't work and you escalate the complaint, those further up the ladder will claim the same thing. Nobody does their job any more.

I can't say I have ever written a FOI request, but I would guess a public body like the EA would be obliged to respond to one and in full?

The problem is that unless you know the incriminating evidence is there and already know what it says, you don't have a clue whether they are disclosing all they have. Back in my Parish Council days we had a traveller family who served a FOI on both the parish council and the district council in respect of their planning breaches. The parish wasn't holding anything relevant as a lot was done verbally or minuted briefly, the District ran a search of their database using the keywords supplied and produced reams of stuff, but also nothing relevant.

Load of snakes, the lot of them, slimy wriggling civil servants, they seem to get away with blue murder. As seems they are untouchable by us the general public, yet we pay their exorbitant salaries and pension schemes/ pensions that go with their jobs.

In theory, MPs make an oath that they will uphold the laws enacted by Parliament. Civil servants are the ones who apply those laws and ought to be held to account when they don't.

But in practice, I think you have hit the nail on the head. They are all bound by codes of practice, but I'll bet most of them haven't even read them. That is how I was able to make four complaints against the police (three of which were upheld) for the way they handled the seizure of my guns. As a wise man once said, we won't win, but at least we can remind them that we exist. Evil flourishes where good men stand idle.

What you say in your post confirms to me that when push comes to shove, the authorities can manipulate the laws that they are supposedly held to account for so as to suit their own agenda.

This discussion on the 100 foot has gone quiet. I think also some of the comments on the Facebook page " Stop the Floods " appear to have been removed. Am I correct ?
Just wondering at the current situation as being a mucky day , thought I may sit down and pen a letter or two.

We had exactly the same with wilts council over a planning battle, acted unlawfully and after we had won a three day enquiry into a planning issue had proved they did the ombudsman just said we had won the argument so it was irrelevant that they acted unlawfully.

It is very strange that none have picked it up, suppose it is not sexy enough.
Plus there are no journalists who can comprehend the science
It won't be a story until it's a proper visual disaster. Add to that, it's in a rural area so doesn't affect many people.
It's a slow burner and will take time to make any headlines
