Perhaps that means he/ she works for the EA,a friend of Packham and never been flooded out due to the incompetence of the EA.
Makes me so annoyed that government agencies very rarely get prosecuted, and even if they do , I doubt an individual employee would have to pay a “fine” out of their own finances, or get the sack.
Know doubt the EA will be able to wriggle out of the “digging the clay out of the bottom of the dyke”, cock up in the Eastern Counties. I expect @hootbe , will think the EA have done no wrong in that situation. :banghead:
The tide will turn on the ea one day, you can’t leave rivers/streams or gutters on houses for ever without there being consequences
they’ve been lucky there’s not been much flooding this year

Lessons will be learned, a phrase that always comes to mind with government bodies mistakes!

In 1959 the rural district council here were taken to the High Court by local farmer who said that their failure to maintain a watercourse had caused his land to flood, court found in the farmer’s favour and DC were ordered to clear the drain and also pay him damages, DC then appealed to Court of Appeal but the decision was upheld.
The EA have now taken over the drain and it hasn’t been touched for 25 years, as I understand it the EA ‘gave’ themselves permissive powers which means although they are responsible for maintenance they do not have to do anything - how times have changed!
The whole thing is a cop out and a joke.

The above gives me the idea that the real
name for the EA, is the “Extremely Arrogant” agency .
