Robotic Milker Price

Well if it hasnt been milked it either hasnt presented itself to the box, its tag is fudged or the robot doesnt like that particular cow? In the short exposure I have had to robots it struck me as pretty straight forward.

Why are you trying to make it so convoluted?
Not lame? Not ecoli? Mastitis?

Just slept in.

Knowledge is power and I will bow to your superiority in both. After 5 years of milking with robots i know it isn't as straight forward as you make it out to be, we have seen excellent conventional milking farmers move to robots and it be a nightmare.
Staffing robots requires a very high level of stockmanship and trust me I've made mistakes and will continue to do so going forward and I consider myself to pretty good at what I do.

@pappuller your the only one on here who is straight and honest about what you do regarding bots . I posted a question and only you replied everyone else is silent.

I reckon to run a high yield robot system and cover the costs and turn a profit and keep the wheels on , it takes skill and hard work.

I doubt it’s for me as I like low cost , low yield, low risk.

I don't think that's quite correct, I know that most people are very honest when it comes to saying it how it is with robots, it's maybe sometimes those without them that have a clouded view. Hence why iam typing this at 4.55 after having a water issue on a robot [emoji23]

I just meant out of all the bot users only he replied. Not one other just said they were happy or unhappy.

I Appreciate that .

Maybe words aren’t my strong point.

I think a better question would be to ask how many would knowing what they know now do it all again from scratch.

My own personal experience would be they don’t live up to the sales hype.
They milk cows much better than a poor milking employee but not as well as I used to.
Main benefit for me is not being tied to that afternoon milking. If I want to go somewhere I can and I get my evenings with my kids.
Downsides are running costs and very hard to get away for a holiday as have no cover that can deal with minor problems occurring with robots (which always happen when you go away)

From a cow point of view their lifestyle couldn’t be much better. Everyone comments on how calm, quiet and relaxed the whole environment is. (Cow looking over my shoulder now trying to see what I’m up to).

Would I do it again?

Not sure but I certainly wouldn’t have carried on milking in a parlour.

Yep I would agree entirely with that, they are dear to run,I’ve had em 10 years now and I would not go back to a parlour, but I have other diversification’s going on and live close to a town so expansion isn’t on the cards and as I have no idea if my daughter wants to do it I’m working on another 5 years and then stop milking

I havn`t contributed to this thread because the issues have been discussed on here before.
Have you used the search funtion on here.
You will find hundreds of post covering the pros & cons of robots of all colours.
Probably one of the biggest knowledge bases on robots anywhere on the web

I’d say every topic known to farming has been discussed on this forum.
We should maybe get the mods to switch it from a forum to an archive.

Not usually but then a gurt bolt jamming the cake auger and a washer in each of two robot feed dispensers never really helps at 2am. Mind I'm sure Ollie will be along shortly to make it all better with a flick of his iPad [emoji23][emoji23]
Chips of concrete off panels is my usual culprit. Not 100% sure Where they come from but i suspect a excited loader driver in the ports or feed mill. You would normally get away with it but not on robots.
@ Whitewalker some of us having been doing this a little while (nearly 12 years here) and been over similar threads dozens and dozens of times. It gets a bit tedious constantly repeating our thoughts.
