Right might be on to you for his number. Shed wouldn’t be 30m clear sight, bought thing out of Curries tonight to try when my patience has cooled a little in morning.
We just put a cat D hard wire between the house and office which is 50m away, less drop in speed that way.
Why aren’t the boosters working, do they just need set up so they are talking the same lingo? IP address etc?

All was working fine but then when computer plugged in lost connection. Thought hub was issue so got one from my own house worked for a while then stopped. Seemed to be when boosters plugged in and sending data it messes with hub and then no internet anywhere. Take boosters out and reset all works fine. Trying different type of booster.

I’d say it is an IP setup issue, but I don’t know anymore to be able to advise, we use a fella not far from you if you need someone and @yin ewe contact doesn’t work out

Can you shift them to get line of sight?

I bought two Ubiquiti Nanostation M5's for each end of a 600m span, clear line of sight. Box claims theyll do 15km line of sight and plus 150mb. Look up crosstalk Nanostation M5 and a nice American will talk you through setting it up. Old router needed for the other end. It wasn't too hard.

What way did folk work the internet in to their outbuildings.
I have bought WiFi extenders to boost WiFi over power cables but for some reason seems to mess up the hub. Anyone any good ideas?

Hi - can you tell me what extender units you’ve bought and I will try to step you through setup / troubleshooting them.

All devices on your network need unique, non duplicate IP addresses to work correctly together. Only one device should have the role of and be responsible for handing out and administering those addresses. It’s called the DHCP server in networking parlance. Most of the time it’s your hub. Generally with new kit, they come ready to “request” an address and this should work out of the box, but sometimes not and they require some setting up before or once they’re connected to an existing network.

It does sound like there’s an addressing problem on your network, which may be causing conflicts while the extenders are connected to the network.

Or you may be connecting to the wrong port on your hub. So probably a good idea to let me know what that is too.

If you feel more comfortable doing it via PM just send me a message. Might not clog up this nice thread then either with off topic.

We ran ours on a WiFi dongle having checked which provider offered best coverage. £15/ month for 15gb was more than sufficient

Do you run any cameras off this dongle also?

I am going to have to give my farm an address of its own so as I can get a phone line in, with the robot coming in a few weeks I need a shirt fix. So I was hoping a dongle would run the big and cameras

We started pushing cows to feed today and watching team viewer tonight every time I try to connect it tells me to check connection. I have line of sight wifi from dad's house and it seems as if one of the antenna on the bridge goes to sleep and needs a few minutes to wake up. Not sure if it's going to be an issue or not. Apart from that the connection is fast, when it's working

When we started using ours one of the units was prone to going to sleep every 2 or 3 days. Needed the power off & on again to get it going.
In the settings I found you cold get it do do a auto restart at a preset interval. I set that to 24 hours & had no more probs.
Not sure if that helps your situation

Don`t think distance would be a problem. ( You don`t say how far you are thinking ) Probably worth increasing the pipe diameter to counteract friction losses. Would think google would come up with tables to calculate that - this
https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/pressure-drop-compressed-air-pipes-d_852.html

Playing about with that
Assuming 10 cfm @ 100 psi. 1" pipe with 300 ft run gives minimal loss

@Wishful Thinker Did you find out what was going wrong ?

Must have been something to do with power line extenders I was using which seemed to interrupt the hub and cause it to lose connection. I thought it would work pretty simple but seems they don’t like going through a board.
@Pheasant Surprise pointed me in right direction, stuff came today and I have very crudely put it up. Seems to have worked at this stage, so I do owe him big time, thanks very much.
Ready now for the next hiccup, hope to be going by next Monday.
