My biggest source of alarms, straw in front of the camera.

I would be asking the manufacturer to fit a couple of air blast nozzles and a solenoid. then A bit of programming to blast air for a few seconds whenever the camera alarm is triggered, then auto reset alarm and try again. If it doesn’t work, then send alarm as normal. Could possibly rig something up to blast air in from the camera every time the arm goes back.

It happens to little to worry me.
Every time the arm goes into its parking position it blasts water 3 times on the camera and then air 3 times, so if you bed on sawdust it should do the job.
I don't get an alarm if there is straw in the way, but if there is something in the way of the camera cows don't get attached properly and fail to milk properly, after 3 incomplete milkings the robot deactivates itself and after an hour of no cows going in I get an alarm.
The alart after an hour of no cows going in is the only alarm I have set, it can alart you on pretty much everything if you choose so.

The whole box covered in shiit doesn't really effect anything, we clean it when it is serviced.

Do you have any regular or spot checks from your milk buyer or food standards dept ?
If they came to my farm and my robots were like that they would refuse to allow my milk to be collected

We do get a visit every year from two standards depts, they are both announced so I tend to clean it if they come. I don't know if it is actually necessary, the actual working area is always clean ( cups and the other side of the robot).
Last time they even put "dust on the bulktank" on the non compliance list.

Could anyone get me the actual footprint size of an A5 and a Vms 310? that would be the size of the robot plus whatever I would need for behind as a clean room. We are currently going through some upgrades round the yard and I want to leave the sheds easily convertable as I am considering going down the robot route in the not too distant future.

Would now be the time to have some preliminary consults, alittle problem solving now to save costs in future.

Do many people here that have robots graze or are ye on an indoor system?
Contemplating getting a robot here. We have about 90 acres in 1 block and where our yard is we have 2 roadways to grazing blocks

If you ring the Lely centre Eglish they'll send someone out to you within the week and give you all the info you need. I haven't gone down the robot route myself yet, but like you I wanted to leave myself the option.

I spoke to a guy today who just ordered 2 gea robots. One of the reason for not going with delaval was because they needed a much bigger footprint.
Local gea dealer sold over 40 robots for this year together with another dealer. They serve less then 10% of the netherlands...

What is price difference between them roughly? In ireland it seems lely are most talked about i heard a rough figure of €150000 for 1 robot

I bought a gea about 1 1/2 year ago and was about 120k. If you buy a second one it will be a fair bit cheaper as there are some components that can serve multiple robots.
The guy I spoke to had a price for gea, lely and delaval. Delaval was the most expensive and lely the cheapest but only 4k between them.
