Out of interest, what’s the minimum amount of cake most of you feed in your robots without losing visits per cow. Aiming this question at those who feed concentrates outside in tmr or oop feeders.

We feed for 22 litres outside and cows get nothing below 22 litres yield in robots heifers fed down to 18. Average 3 visits a day
So if animal is giving below 22kg it gets nothing in robot ? We are at m+17 at barrier but min of 2kg in bots until 21 days before dry off then reduces to .5 at dry off. You are doing very well to get cows to come if they are not getting anything in the robot, free access or guided ?

It was the biggest downside to installing robots we had. Hadn’t fed cake since 1991 prior to them. If we could have kept the cows in separate groups then we would have risked not feeding any but it couldn’t be incorporated into our existing setup. Cows are on a feed first guided system. Although to be fair with my old cows hardly any were getting no cake most were dried off giving 30+ litres/day. But at the moment with cows I have I’d say I’m saving a lot.

Simple system here too, plenty of cows receive no feed in Vms when feed(grazed and zero grazed grass +silage only) is worth m+ their yield.

Hi.
Did I dream it or are a4's more difficult to move than the a2/a3? I thought I have read the earlier ones are 'plonked' in place but a4 is concreted in?
Could be wrong, just thinking about ones for sale at gth next month.
Cheers

A4s bolt down onto a concrete base that can be supplied by lely manufactured by moore concrete I believe. A4s only require power, water and air and a milk line and data connection but they should be simple to relocate.
