Robotic milking

We are a new build. Tank room next door to robot room. Milk line needs to travel less than 20’ water tanks and compressor above robot. Get me a pair of overalls ill get it boshed together and @Bald Rick can come labour on day rate. 4 cups of coffee and a hob nob sound ok?

Have you any pictures, always great to see different set ups and layouts?

VMS has alot of common parts with milking parlour, many of the air line parts are avaliable from many different non genuine suppliers.

Service, service, service, service, any of them will milk cows, when it stops milking at 3am you need good backup from the dealer.

Yeah i know service is important but i'd say both of them have good support. I'd like to know why lely over delaval or the oposite becouse atm both are even on the same price.

Have you had quotes for each machines service plan ?
I don't think you would be disappointed with the performance of either machine, they both milk cows well, running costs are a big consideration water/electric costs are only going one way

Can you still not manually attach on a lely? In which case that would persuade me somehow to the blue one.

Nah you cant on lely,... about the costs 1.3k€ yearly on delaval for lely 1.3k, so its about the same.

Service costs.. for water and electric from what i'v heard lely is better option...

Lely here as they were the only show in town regarding backup 10 years ago. Other makes have caught up a bit since. Manual attach is the only thing I would add to the lely, would be nice to have it for those fidgety heifers for a couple of days.

Re sale value should always be a consideration in my opinion as you never know whats around the corner

Yeah lely is the main brand here also, about the resale value i think lely has the higher one..

Looking I’m on with both mechanically milking cows fine it’s the software for herd management, heat health etc which one from that point of view

4 lely 4 fullwood or 4 delaval, do lely entertain any sort of guided system now. How would each perform on a decent herd of cows? Whats an ideal number for 4 robots, thinking 240 max. In my head fullwood would be the bomb proof system that would not cause many issues and be cheaper than the rest to run. Delaval would possibly the best performing out the lot but be quite niggly and need more tlc than the other two. Lely also bomb proof but there's many out there but what i know lely don't entertain guided but is their graze way not some form of guidance system

Free access seems to be most popular and my view both work. Its a personal preference to have a guided system feed last. I don't know how quick certain robots are at rejecting cows if they have already been milked. I figured having a guided system the robot shouldn't need to reject cows as all that enter would be ready to milk. The other reason is the ability to segregate cows, whether for ai, pd or needing treatment. We feed fresh grass so i was concerned in a free access system that might take cows away from the robot.

I've updated no end of parts to improved ones as they became available over the last 13years on my Lely A3 . Better water valves from A4 . Later mqc with fat and protien measurment . Later m4use valves . Later twin tube manifold , twin tube protectors etc etc. The same was true with older A2 models that in the main were updated to the later laser as are many A4's now to the A5 laser .
