We just about make 1250kgs of rock salt last a winter for 160 cattle, they love it!

Rock salt is dirt cheap and cattle like it, no reason not to put it around. Can even spread on grass if you want.

Rock salt in lumps from catch bags is fine, bucket licks- different matter. Just a way of making money from you.

With bulls I've been told it makes them drink more water, which in turn increases feed intake.

salt good for control of orf in young lambs , just watch lambs standing on it and cocci , we try and hang salt blocks up now indoors , ewes love it as well , cheap as chips .rock salt in fields in upturned wheel rims allow it to drain and stay clean

I like salt on my food, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good for me, or that I need it.

As above, I don’t suppose it will do any harm, but I certainly wouldn’t expect to see any great benefit either.

I don’t offer it, but I did buy a big bag once. The ‘Himalayan’ salesman rang me 6 months later and seemed really pee’ed off when I said I didn’t need any more.
