Rodent control

Just wondering what anyone else is doing to control Rodents around farm or Dwelling houses especially mice.
I have being laying Tack on cardboard (mice stick in it) with some cheese but not catching any recently but they are still about
What is the best bait to use to kill them or attract them to the traps.
Also are these electronic things I see advertised, they emit a sound of some sort, anyone use these with good results let me know.
The heat attracts them in but I need to get rid of them lol.
Any good ideas let me know.

Contact your local League of Mad Cat Ladies (Cats Protection) and get some neutered, disease checked, wormed feral cats.
Since we moved here the Wildcat charities have trapped, neutered, checked for feline aids any cats that arrive and we rarely ever see a mouse and haven't seen a rat for years despite living a stones throw from a pig unit. This service was free as we have wildcats less than a mile away but the mad cat ladies trap ferals and rehome them all year and are always looking to rehome the less than charming ones that won't find family homes.
We have four ferals around, they cost £20 a quarter in dried bulk bought cat food and we have the reassurance there is no poison anywhere for the dogs to accidentally pick up.

"Be sure to check the live traps hourly! The little animals will be hungry, thirsty, and frightened, and they may die if left in the traps too long. Release rats within 100 yards of where they were caught. Releasing a rat into a strange area will almost surely result in his or her death."

For mice, I use a pitfall trap into a bucket of water plus a little antifreeze (technically not allowed, but it is an attractant, they drown faster in the lower density and it stops decay of the corpses)
Just emptied 30 or 40 today from 2 buckets after about 3 weeks

I was emptying and cleaning an old bath that has the downspout from a roof supplying it. It is at a 45 degree angle into the water. As I bailed the water out, 3 rat corpses came out of the pipe. I suppose they went down for some reason and couldn't get the friction to go back up. I've put a grille in the gutter now.

Tried traps, bait and shooting them with the air rifle. Didn't do a thing. A few dead sure but they were breeding faster than they were dying.
Then they got in my Mum's classic mini. Many years and a insurance claim to boot...

Brother got a feral cat.

Haven't got rats anymore. Pretty environmentally friendly solution too

I used to work for a dealership that sold the sonic deterrents - admittedly it was quite some time ago. We sold some to customers for use in dwelling houses but they very quickly returned them. Even though most people could not hear them, they often caused severe headaches. I believe they are not recommended for use in houses for that reason.
