Rolling drilled sugar beet

I would have to drastically improve my ploughing to do as you suggest. Surely the headlands need a tidy up or are you as good as @slim shiny ?
Not as good as slim. I normally press all the headlands and then just harrow the furrows in if we're drilling them first or we drill the field and then plough press and harrow where needed then drill the headlands last.

Ps still haven't drilled any beet here yet.

We have around 600 acres in so far, but now on the heavier land around ixworth so output has reduced as the power Harrow has come out of the nettles?. When I was at wretham I used to plough and press with the beet drill chasing me up the field, headlands used to get a pass with the terradiscs just to level up the corners, must admit it worked well but I think the land we have sumo'd this year has gone better into more moisture and with the stubble/trash still on the surface it also helps to stop blow

Yer pretty much, spring corn took a bit longer to do than planned. After I put the post drilling N on the spring stuff I then spent a day doing the rest of the N on the winter barley because I fear we're in for a dry spell and they talked about a bit of rain this weekend just gone and when I said id hopefully get the beetland ploughing finished this weekend dad said bugger the old beet it's to cold and they're better in the box so I did a few other jobs Instead. I should get finished in a day or two and theres still several beet to be drilled around this area.

What used to be called "Recreational Cultivations" by the soil guy from Harper back in the day... ;)

I look back now and wonder about the hours spent with harrows or a power harrow and recall the compaction that was quite visible in poorer beet where the power had been worked at 90 degrees to the first pass with a dutch harrow! I started to run a 3m dutch harrow front, power harrow behind, on a dualled 80hp Zetor, about as light as could be achieve for a one pass operation at the time! Into teh pressing was I agree, better, and as you say, no windblow! :ROFLMAO:

Geoff Wakeham?

TBH, I cannot remember now...

I still vividly remember a farm walk and talk put on ( I think) by the local Factory and the damning verdict on those Farmers who were only happy with a tractor belching out black smoke and thinking it must be doing good because the tractor was working so hard!! Unecessary subsoiling and chisel ploughing being pet hates!!
