Is it not the power harrow that's causing you surface capping ,dreadful tool imo
no its not ,its people using them who don't know how to with a bit of sense.

a rota spike or rotavator is actually harder on the soil structure as they throw the soil violently against their body to break it down more using brute force.
A rotavator causes localised (beneath the blades) compaction as well like discs can do .

A Rotorspike turns very slow ,have you ever used one ?
Doing a job for a mate now , spray, one pass Rotorspike, Role hard ,sow seed , think an academy award is well justified

Should be roughly Same choice of rotor speeds as rotavator but that's up to the operator at the end of the day.

A power harrow would do that what you're doing there just as well .

That's not a root !It's a branch!
it what i call an 'along the ground branch.'

its a Willow branch that has self suckered itself out into the field, better to pull them out before working the field .
im not sure i would employ someone like Derek to do practical jobs, hes place would be in the Office ,.....if at all :ROFLMAO:

Should be fine ,did you get that rain last night, we worked like mad yesterday, just managed to get 15 acres finished just as it started to rain, weatherman got it right for once , nice feeling this morning, seed was flying out of the yard as well so a lot doing the same
Started drilling at 9, pulled out at half10, rain stopped, restarted drilling at half 2 and finished at 5 in the rain again. A trying day but it has proper lashed it down today!
