Spring barley novice here! Got drilled up yesterday but couldn’t get it rolled too. Would like to roll it before it’s up as it’s very light in places. Rain this morning and forecast not good till end of the week. If it chits will it damage it if I roll it a week after drilling?
Thanks, I am worried it would break the chit. If not chitted it should be ok? Would it be chitted in a week?As a rule, I would never roll chit seed.
It'll be dry enough at some point before the barley gets to tall I'm sure.
You can roll it post em any time from 2 leaves up to gs30.
Would a loose unrolled seed bed not be a nightmare for MN deficiency on the fens.
longer. on set of tillering. Just imo.Think I will leave it till 2nd leaf.
I roll around wet patchesWe were not going to roll but now I’m thinking we ought to because we all know what’s going to happen now don’t we! A drought so rolling might just lock a bit of moisture in.
I would definitely roll it. No cereal likes a loose seedbed on these conditions.Hi. Would you roll this? Spring wheat into medium clay. Had a bit of rain just after drilling 10 days ago. No rain since and Nothing on the forcast. Windy and above 20c.
