Roof mounted wind turbines?

I see you can get up to 9 kw turbines to go on your roof. I may get a couple for my dairy shed to help cut grid power use during milking.
Anybody with experience or suggestions?

Why do you say that? I have no idea about this sort of thing, looks better than getting planning for a big one or more solar panels on the roof that provide some electric, mostly when I don’t need it

If I could find a good quality reasonable cost 9kw Wind Turbine I would have bought one 10+ years ago.

From my experience - looking - all the small turbines have serious maintenance issues and are very expensive.

Regardless, I wouldn't put any wind turbine on a building - even a 1kw one because of the issues with vibration. If you find a make that works in normal wind speeds and lasts let us know.

How come they vibrate so much? Wouldn’t that mean the bearings are knackered, rather than the turbine itself being at fault?

I have nothing against wind turbimes over 10kw and if I could get planning permission would have 3 x 250kw but I have no chance of that. As for fixing turbines to buildings thats just a joke due to vibration and not having clean air to operate in.

A 9 kw turbine will typically have an output of around 3 kw .
There will be windy days when it does more and some days when it does nothing.
So much depends on location.

If you want to generate electric while milking why not let the cows do the work. Be far more reliable than a wind turbine.
