What is the optimum roof angle for solar and do you need planning for the solar
We are thinking of putting up a new building which is south facing with a clear vue

Ideal roof angles are complex, in the days of FIT it was simple, the angle to give max return which is facing due south pitched about 35 degrees.
However if you need to gain the maximum usable power it can be very different.
You need to ascertain when and how you are using the power. For most domestic installs an East West roof can be far superior, although only yielding about 85% of the output, the usable power can be far higher, sopince most domestic consumption is early morning late afternoon.
For a southern pitched roof again a higher pitch will give a higher winter yield good for heating , though not so good if your main use is cooling at midday in the summer when a pitch of about 30 is perfect
