I learnt that they know how to use gallons and gallons of scarce water in a desert, just to keep the place looking green.
I learnt that if you throw enough money at something, you can recreate Venice or Rome anywhere in the world.
I learnt that some people are quite happy to sit in front of a slot machine for hours on end, pushing money into it.
I learnt that our large food portions really aren't!

I didn't learn about crop rotations, cover crops and fallow land. I come on here for that
