Rotations

Looking for some advice. I’ve 140 ac of land suitable for a bit of arable farming. All I’m interested in doing with it is growing crops of barley or possibly wheat to provide feed and straw for fattening cattle and also crops of swedes or fodder beet to graze sheep over winter. Anybody care to offer a suitable rotation where I can have as much as possible of both the above every year? Having swedes or fodder beet makes this rather difficult. Cheers

Would stubble turnips be any good??? If they are then you can increase your winter grazing and still have a cereal crop of barley or follow the stubble turnips with beet.

You would have to be a bit careful with to many turnips if you were growing swedes aswell in the rotation.
Would any of the land be rotational grass???
Maybe something like WB, stubble turnips, spring barley, stubble turnip, beet, spring barley then back to winter barley.

The stubble turnip would make good use of the ground between the cereal harvest and the following spring.
