round bale feeder for sheep , pre-cut bales

Would it make life easier with a round bale feeder like this and feed pre-cut round bales ??

The spacing of the inner ring is 5.5 cm below and 8 cm on top and I`m thinking about if it would be much easier for the ewes to eat the hay and therefor far less wastage and what falls down can be picked up later inside the feeder !? My contractor has a round baler with knifes for pre-cutting the hay, he just wants to know how many knifes or how short I want the hay cut ??

Anybody experience on that ??

Will 10cm be O.K. or where is the optimum between easier feed intake and having the bale falling apart and through the mesh ??
