Round bale hay or small bales

Quick question: on average how many small bales of hay would make up a 4' round bale of hay? Would we say 5 or 8 or 10 or more? I'm just trying to compare prices (or rather value for money!)

Cheers, Tom

This year not being normal by any means but in previous years we would sell straw in fusion rounds (210-220kg) at £12/bale and then small squares (20kg roughly? I’ve never weighed a small bale) at £2.50/bale.

a lot depends on the balers used to start with , and how dence you want small bales , with straw baled v tight in small baler , we get about 12 small bales out of a 6 string big sq bale and about 6-8 out a round (welgar ) , when we rebale some for lambing pens ,
