I should have rung you .£2.50
What baler ?
@RAF is about rightclaas Rollant 254 rotocut
It was a quid 30 years ago .It’s silly was £2.50 20 years ago . Get a quaddy in for £3.50. Silly but that’s the job
Is it raked? If its rowed up in 30ft bouts £2.50 won't be bad. Is the field flat, or on the side of a mountain? How many acres to do?Had a local man ask if I’ll round bale Some hay for him, what do people charge? Don’t want to rip him off as he’s good with me but I have no idea what price people charge as we only ever do our own. Standard rounds with net wrap.
cheers

I'd be inclined to charge £3.

fields are fairly flat, he reckons there will be 200+ bales I believe towed up with a haybob ready for when I arrive
???So that’s a no to being raked then
You'll only get that round here making rock solid bales of silage / straw with a belt baler.I charge £3.25 or £3.50 if they want it chopped.
or you could look at what its being fed too and if its making profit and find out you should be baling it for nothing. People pricing jobs on what they have spent on the kit makes me smile. 30 mile radious of me i could have round bales done from £1.80- £3.20. £2.50 is about fair and average . I have lost count of the chaps starting up contracting and having to send the kit back because they think a few busy weeks work will service hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of finance, if it was that profitable we would all be doing itWhat happens if you look at it the other way?
Tractor depreciation £7/hour, driver £15/hour, fuel £6/hour: £28/hour.
How many bales do you realistically expect to do per hour, including travel time and setting up?
Now add on notional operating cost per bale for the baler and price per bale for the net. At least you now have a minimum base price to break even.
If you’re not covering your costs, what’s the point of doing it?or you could look at what its being fed too and if its making profit and find out you should be baling it for nothing.
