Not sure what our contractor will be charging this year.was about £2.50 for bailing last year.not sure on wrapping as I do it my self.

Does anyone use a belt baler for silage? An do they ever put the pressure up to pack more grass in?just thought less bales, less wrap used?
Our neighbour / contractor uses a NH belt baler, chopped 4' 9" rounds can go way over 1000kg, he baled some the other day at 1150kg. We usually aim for pressure to produce 850kg bales. Definitely saves wrap and haulage time, but makes the Tanco bale slice grunt at feed out if they're to tight. He charged just shy of £10/bale last year, rowed up, baled, wrapped and stacked in the yard with 6 layers.

Our contractor has upped his rates massively this year not happy. We have been quoted £2.25 for a 4ft round
And £2.75 to wrap with 6 layers think he’s taking advantage of the small increase in fuel to jump prices🙉
That is very cheap! Down here last season we were just over £3 for a 4foot round, £2 for wrapping then wrap on top

youve been ripped off surely? how much is a roll now? are these 4ft bales?
Maybe.....

Our normal supplier couldn't get 500mm wrap, so I ordered and paid for it elsewhere, £90.60 a roll Inc vat so I make that £75.50 ex vat. Generally get 28 x 4' bales to a roll so £2.70 per bale, plus the Vat. However, our first guy has got some at £59 (plus vat) a roll which works out at £2.11 a bale, bit more bearable so the other order was cancelled.

Is the wrap the same wrap? 16.50 a roll difference?
