I paid the other day, £9 a bale with 6 layers of wrap and £5 for raking. They supplied the wrap and diesel
Were they using 30 year old equipment and making 14 bales to the acre?

Because if they were using two new tractors, and a modern baler and wrapper, at those prices they're desperate for work to pay for the quarter of a million plus pounds worth of tackle they've out on finance!!!!!

Using a claas tractor and a taarup bio baler. Tho wasn’t a fancy rake. Was like a hay turner but rakes to. He’s been at it 3 summers now. My regular baler man had stopped this year so had find new one and this lad was available. Others around me are £10.50 a bale and they supple wrap and diesel

You will have plenty of bales with a Bio.

what odds would it make to the customer though whether the contractor had a new tractor pulling the baler and wrapper ? that's up to the contractor to justify or not and price accordingly or not
I can see that it may be advantageous if they had a newish baler working on it hopefully producing a tighter bale or chopping it better but I can't see that the tractor makes any odds as far as the customer is concerned

Call it £10 for easy counting. Can always give them a pound or 2 off the bill if they pay out the field, feed you and don't give you any grief.

Already do that. Had a bill of 636 for a customer and made it 630. He said “will I make it out the even money?” I said sure, 700 would be very generous of you but the 630 would do 🙄
