Thinking of direct drilling some old pp, was wondering if grass can be grazed after spraying with glyphosphate the same as it can be cut and baled or is grazing a bad idea thanks in advance

^this, legally.

If the glyphosate product that you use has a grazing interval specified (usually 5 days iirc), then it is permissible to do so. Many products don’t have that recc though, in which case, it wouldn’t be allowed....

We've done it lots of times and sheep are fine with it. I've even seen them rush off a green PP field into a sprayed off ley. We've done grass before mowing for silage as well so I don't see a problem. Used Roundup Ulitimate for mowing grass as it's safer. Apparantly it's not the glyphosate that's harmful, it's the adjuvents/ additives they put in the cheaper products.

M if there is enough grass to graze why not eat it down hard, Then spray as you will need less product and get a better result, that's what I would be doing

That I'll be another lie fed to us by the industry and a good way of justifying the more expensive product imv

As part of the way glyphosate kills a plant, it apparently raises sugar levels in the plant after a few days, making it more palatable to graze as well as fermenting better when ensiled.
