Row cleaners on 750A

but more capital than a entire additional 6m drill which was my solution to the problem !
I really want my 750a to be my sole drill and versatile in most situations. Also if I had to use a tine drill I think I'd have to buy a heavy set of rolls as my old gang rolls aren't heavy enough to do any good on ULD, but I don't find rolling necessary after the 750.

Ok looks like we could be talking enough for it to be worth him making up jigs etc and getting some economies of scale production etc

Leave it with me, will take him the one I have to look at asap

My fab man only does exceptional quality, good not good enough for him !

Glad to hear it. I think the stuffing of residue into the slot has probably been worse than I was expecting with the 750a. Being able to improve this situation would certainly be a help. When you tried them, how fiddly / robust was the design? One of the things I like about the drill at the moment is that it's pretty simple.

I loved it and its very well made, strong etc no adjustment just fit (v easy as well) and forget

It was just to expensive for a full set vs my CO which also gave me additional capacity

Do you think you would run them all the time, or only have them working in difficult situations? How do you take them out of work?

You can lift them out of work v easy when not required, simply lift and insert a pin

Only reason you would do would be to save wear on the star wheel when they were not really needed

There are some pics on here of it on my drill and a thread about it, I would search to find it but on iPhone with a broken screen right now which is aukward !

They look a lot simpler. Why do you think those ones in the video are so complicated. One thing though for us is if we're drilling into uneven fields whether the fixed row cleaners might not work as well?

I was just watching the video - no idea why they have made it so complex or what that solves ? they simply run on the surface and move the trash away from the disc blade not unlike a haybob

they float in work so cope find with undulations, they sit on top under their own weight and are not forced into work

So the ones in your picture have adjustment, but are essentially fixed rather than being sprung in any way?

yes they are not sprung, they sit under their own weight (they are quite heavy)

The adjustment is a stop to prevent them dropping too far when you lift the drill hitting the disc out of work and IIRC the other stop (not visible in pic) just limits upward travel

once set you don't adjust in field

its 3 or 4 years since we used it so need to get it off the shelf to remind myself of the detail

When you used it, did it in any way cause soil disturbance, or is it just skating over the surface moving the trash?

no it just moves the trash, sits on the surface, its not got pressure to dig into soil

We only had the one on the drill to test, you could see that row (better) at emergence in wheat after oats and millet, i should have pictures somewhere

My only concern would be if when a full set was fitted that the front set would move more trash into the space for the rear set, row spacings are generaly wider in other countries where these things are more commonly used

Slight chicken and egg problem then. Ideally want to see a set working, but need numbers to be able to achieve even that.

Apparently from my email just the other day from Aus they are slightly different now. They have slightly modified the ones for the 750's and have a little high tensile cable to lift them. There is also a couple of lifting bars that would be expensive to import but can be fabricated over here that must be welded onto the drill and then when the coulters are lifted these lift the cables to each Aricks wheel to lift them out of work.
Not sure why they have done this compared to the one @Clive already has.
