Rowcrop for haulage.

I'm looking at changing to a trailed sprayer. Because everyone says how easy they are to drop on and off I would like to be able to use the tractor for other jobs. Mainly carting. Without changing wheels.

At the moment I've.a 2170 fastrac with a demount on it. This just stays on it, from may till harvest doing bulk of spraying. Then it goes onto another fastrac a 1997 1135 for the last of pre harvest glyphosate, pre emerge sprays, early spring sprays on winter crops.

I would like to be able to keep the 2170, use it on trailed sprayer and sell 1135 and demount together.

So basically my question is! Is there a suitable rowcrop tyre that I can go spraying off crops 1 day, drop off sprayer and go hauling grain and bales the next? The sprayer I'm looking at is on 420s. rowcrops on fastrac at moment 380s.

I see tattie guys going about on rowcrops most of year, doing other jobs. Would like this option.

Do you have many hills? I had to do some spraying for neighbors last autumn with my mounted as they couldn’t drag it up the hills.

Used to prefer row crops back in my veg work days , all be it heavy duty type - 14. something tyres on 80" centres . Much better on the road than 650's .
Biggest test was 26 boxes aw neeps down the road to wash plant . Grip wise they dug in well on straw layers in less than ideal conditions / banks

We run 420's on a 200hp tractor for baling, taty harvester, tiller, plough even. They'll be fine. I'd consider a different drawbar on a swan neck to a fifth wheel on the loadbed of the fastrac - better following, better weight transfer.

Hey Chae, use a 2170 for spraying here with a trailed sprayer. Put 420/85r34 ( give a bit more height) on as row crops.... work well but only BKT and don’t have a very high load rating ......142? And don’t haul with them. Don’t think they would last long drawing grain especially at higher speeds..... would think they would heat a lot. If you were going to take that route would be worth get proper high speed row crops.... spraybib or the like.

Does the 4ws and steering axle work okay together?

Yeah... just. Have them set at 76in track spacing and on full lock they just rub the paint on the chassis. Had 30in rims on but the cross members are quite low on the Fastrac and it was pulling heads of wheat on the head spray.

Looks smart with yellow rims.

I caught and ripped apart the bonnet turning into a awkward field with mine on rowcrops. Was expensive. Got axle stops screwed out now.

Got the rims drilled 10 stud and painted yellow if I upgraded to a 4000 series.... but judging by the amount that are traded in just before their warranties are up, not sure if they would make a good second hand buy 🤷‍♂️

Why not just leave the sprayer on the old fastrac all the time ?
