Had mailing through from RHASS yesterday.
Tag line was "save the show."
Not looked at it proper, may get chance at weekend.

And do you all feel if RHASS went bust, that someone would be there to take over the show?
Would we be happy without a show?

I can't say I've got spare money to give, but they have run unlucky with the timing of the new pavilion etc.

I’m not inclined to put any spare pennies in the show’s direction, I’d rather support the local show that pulls several thousand extra visitors into the small local economy.

The summer magazine came today, firstly, wgat did that cost to publish/print/post to the membership when it could be emailed.

Their social media figures were IMO pretty poor. 121750 reaches on Facebook, for the largest show in Scotland, that’s not poor, it’s pathetic. In comparison, the local confined area show here had 71000 reaches. Baring in mind that social media has been the main way to connect with the audience this year the RHS is severely lacking.

I was at the Royal show in 2004 as one of three student reps for SAC. Bowler hats, tail coats, no real connection to agriculture. The sad thing is we all know what happened at Stoneleigh and I can see the Highland going that direction too.

They appear to have in excess £20million on the bottom line of their balance sheet. so do have a considerable amount of "wiggle room " IMO to get them through Covid.
So, don`t see a pressing need to support them

Regarding the Royal.
I had numerous conversations with bowler hats over the years, asking what the plan was to reverse the decline.
Attitude was, Its the Royal Show, people will always come. --- Wrong

Everyone l know love the show, the last few years great weather and machinery and livestock can't be beat, but it's very very expensive, l guess parking will be up next year if there is a next year.

They do, but taking a look at the accounts and they have minimal cash - the share portfolio they had has largely been sold and they have arranged a hefty overdraft facility.

Seems most of the £20M relates to the show ground and buildings.

letter from RHASS yesterday asking for £125 to help save the show. Really enjoy going to the show each year and having a beer or two and a catch up with friends but feel i contribute enough when there....£10 to park the car,£5+ a pint,£6 for a roll. I dont think the new £5 million pound members pavillion will add anything to my show experience. Have started to question the value of being a member in recent years and a lot of friends are saying the same. whats everyone else think?

Really enjoy the social aspect of the show, but like so many others, it is now just one big glorified shopping arcade. I understand it had to move with the times and to attract the paying public you can't just show them coos, sheep, horses and tractors, but having amassed a huge alternative revenue stream over the last few years I can't believe that the directors were not putting a bit away every year to see out the inevitable bad times. Surely very poor management. I doubt I will be giving them much
