Anyone tried the rumenco maxx licks? Local supplier is offering these instead of crystalyx , claiming to be identical( ????) £3.50 cheaper per block for 22.5 kg size. Thanks

Crystalix works by being hard and therefor doesn't go soft when it rains. The air in the atmosphere makes only about a cm on top soft at a time, so animals can't just lick it for the sake of it, trials show animals visit crystalix often for short periods of time as once the soft part has been licked they can't get much more so wander off and revisit again.

David showed me these new maxx buckets the other day. I would be very surprised if they could be eaten quickly. They are rock hard with a glass like finish. Not actually used them so only guessing. We use there other blocks and they don't last long at all :-(

Supalyx are a proper feed block though, aren't they, whereas Crystalyx is sold as a supplement`?
What sort of analysis are Supalyx, because I assume they are at least twice the price per kg as what nuts would be?

As far as I can tell the maxx bucket is rumenco's answer to crystalyx. They told me at SW sheep "to watch this space......"

I think folk are getting mixed up comparing superlyx to Crystalyx- very different things, the superlyx is much softer and meant to be higher in take.

Should be comparing maxx to crystal and leave superlyx out of it.

Also we used to use a fair bit of superlyx but found rumencos rumivite block much better value for money, weight for weigh, and not so soft.

Sorry only just noticed replys alerts have gone haywire on phone!! Yes supalyx is totally different to the"maxx" block was just wondering if people thought this was good replacement for crystalyx or not? Ingredients seem much the same but haven't actually seen a block yet to see how hard they are, was looking for 80 kg tubs but supplier was sold out, said if feedback is ok from first few customers then once 19 pallets of crystalyx gone out yard only taking this in. Thanks for replies

hopefully rumenco will put the maxx in 100kg bucket like the superlyx, if you've got to use the tractor etc to move 80kg, just as well move 100kg and the empty buckets are more useful!

It's still only in 80kg at the moment, I sometimes feel like I'm drowning in a sea of empty ton bags and plastic buckets! Had a good crop of tatties out of crystalyx tubs at house last year though!

Have you been cutting back on the cakes? I can lift an 80kg block into the back of the truck, but 100kg beats me enough that I don't try.

Perhaps putting them all in 100kg tubs is the safest option though.

i can lift a 80kg but i wouldn't try a 100kg bucket, always get some help on that, they are easy to drag out.
i usually fill the link box up and do a trip round so everything is sorted for a while.

no cutting back on the cakes........if anything i'm eating more!- my other sister is home from traveling and currently jobless, so she's making us either cakes or a proper pudding (to go with the tea she cooks us) every day! :hungry::hungry: but she's gone off to london today:rolleyes: so i spose i'll have to fend for my self and raid my freezer at home! :nailbiting:

Rumenco Maxx are a better product both nutritionally and on price in my opinion they have a better nutritional value on the energy version and are cheaper. Crystalyx have a good product but finally there is a better one to challenge them Maxx are a dehydrated molasses based product made on a new production plant very similar to a hard boiled sweet Not to be confused with Supalyx which are completely different. Definitely worth a try if you can get them as I'm told they are selling faster than they can make them

Just stumbled across this thread and 9 months on, just wondering what peoples latest thoughts are on Rumenco Maxx. Are they as good as Crystalyx?
