Rumenco maxx or crystalyx

Just stumbled across this thread and 9 months on, just wondering what peoples latest thoughts are on Rumenco Maxx. Are they as good as Crystalyx?

Had a handful of the small Maxx ones and can't see a lot of difference tbh. Product choice came down to introductory offers when the Rumenco ones where on a sales push locally. Not a lot in it otherwise, I'd have thought.

My experience last winter in a side by side trial was that Maxx are definitely softer than Crystalyx, and consequently get hoovered up quicker.

Just to revive this again!
Anyone used the Downland licks? Good or bad when compared to all the above?

Iv used the Downland Natural Sheep Energy (i think they are called?) buckets... Supposed to be a rival to both the Lifeline and High Energy buckets - or so the sales pitch went. Similar price as Lifeline for 1 tonne.

Yeah they were OK, sheep hit them damn hard though... so they didnt last long.

Rep told me they were made by Rumenco.
I've ordered some anyway so we'll see how they go

Supposedly... IIRC theres fish oil in them, which Lifeline dont have.

They do a job - ewes had plenty milk/colostrum and the lambs were strong, and a good size at birth. So they did the job what they were bought for (y)

@neilo had a price.

I put my first block out today for the twins/triplet ewes due 4th January, first block out since April

Still haven’t decided on crystalyx, lifeline lamb and ewe or maxx energy for the Glamorgan ewes (50% brokers)

Yes for the Opti-lix, what was the price last year? I used the maxx tub last year and was fairly pleased with them, yes I know cake/rolls would be cheaper but farming on a heavy farm can be difficult.

I ordered now, a year ago and got a tonne pre - price increase. From memory, it was £660 or £680...

I feed concentrates daily. But I like the safety of putting buckets out to keep twin lamb away. But having said that, I put molasses into my feed - so I have been wondering if I should just do without the buckets.

Or do without the molasses and concentrates?

I paid £60/80kg block for the Downland Optilix at tupping time (a month or so ago), for a full pallet. That works out at £720 for 960kg. IIRC they were £57 for the same last year.
Hopefully a pallet of those over tupping on old pp will add enough lambs to pay for them???

I had a price for rumenco stuff from Wynnstay yesterday, MAXX £21/each or £19.50 if a pallet and lifeline lamb and ewe £22/each or £18 if a pallet. That was from the guy on the daytime checkout while I was there picking something up and not 1 of the reps who you can haggle with..
