Is there any need for trade shows now? I've not been to Lamma since its last year at Newark and not been to cereals for 3 or 4 years. What exactly am I missing?

If your looking at something it's on the manufacturers website to get basic info. Then ask on a forum for user opinions. Then go to the locals dealers to see it or get a demo and then get quotes. I'm not sure what place trade shows have any longer, the same as agricultural magazines.
Isn't the clue in the name? Trade shows are really for the supply trade rather than farmers.

How in earth did this thread migrate to Lamma? Since it has, as in all pre and post show views, there will always be for and against - that's life! Sure if you don't want to go to an event where the majority of the breadth of what is available will on display, that's fine. Many like to look at all alternatives in one location and to a large degree that's what these events provide. As to where and when, the arguememt will rage on! Logically any show in the colder months should be indoors but that means a limited choice of suitable venues.

It took me by surprise because I thought PSA were rescued (perhaps more than once) by State / EU aid ?
France pumped a €7 billion rescue package into PSA Peugeot in late 2012/2013. I've no knowledge of how this was squared away with EU rules.

Ten years before that the UK government let the Phoenix group asset strip the remnants of the British car industry, and helped them sell it off to the Chinese.

John Towers, Peter Beale, Nick Stephenson and John Edwards of the Phoenix group were allowed to steel the livelihoods and pensions of thousands of people.

It fills me with disgust just how little the Westminster government values primary production and manufacturing in this country.

Peugeot is a success story that shows how badly British steel, coal, and car workers were regarded.

I seriously hope Westminster will break with their tradition of allowing the sale or closure of British industries, and post Brexit that they emulate France.

Perhaps we need to start rumours in the press that Westminster will be supporting agriculture? :whistle:

Peugeot are also getting some good designs back too. Industrial design should be a cornerstone of British industrial success as well . Why do we always get it so wrong?
