S barley

What water conditioner do you use? I wasn't aware there was a problem. Nothing on the label about it.
X-Change, Chek.

First time i used Canopy was a late T1 with traces. Blocked top hats with a yellow oily scum that was floating on top of spray mix

Spoke to BASF technical...told it really needed high calcium water conditioning.
Pointed out this was not on label.
Pointed out Canopy pushed at timings whene Mn etc was also in mix.
Inferred this was a bit of an omnishambles on their part.

They might have reformulated it since......? If i have to use it it goes with Xchange and no traces.

Thank you. I have a water tank full of Aquascope treatment and a Dosatron to meter it in. Aquascope is the same as X Change.

I've used canopy on spring barley before at
.4 or 5. It did a nice job. Pgr on sb is difficult without wrecking it!
Sometimes it goes very lush and then tightens up again with no need for pgr.
Canopy seems to do just enough without being too harsh.

Without seeing a photo of your crop, and what land it is on, and how fertile it is, anything anyone says is a guess.

If you have a crop like Chae, with that angry green about it, you would be considering doing something. For the record, I don't think 1 litres of CCC is going to stop barley falling over, it's not stiff enough. CCC is pretty gentle.

Canopy is more expensive but I have had good results with it. The technical blurb is it takes control of the plant at a different level so is more effective etc. It's expensive which is why I would not be blatting it everywhere though. Terpal is the old favourite but again that is very much a consider it later idea.

CCC wants to go on earlier, from memory many products has a GS 14 cut off for some reason?

Took these photos yesterday

I find that Terpal, even at lower doses, is a big aid to reducing brackling. ?

Don't grow SB here but in WB it reduces both brackling and necking.

Downside in the wet harvest a couple of years ago was that holding the ears so erect allowed rain to accumulate in the ears producing black tips which, in oats, would have been yet another big claim.

I find when it’s that wet that black tip in oats isn’t my problem but sprouting is ?

Yes all goes for whisky, has to be below 1.65n loads average about 1.55n so must be getting it right.
I'm on a high N contract for whiskey. They want over 2%. If it was damp I would put on 175Kg N, as it is it will probably only get 150 or 160. Had 130 so far, needs to be treated a bit like milling wheat with N timings I'm told.
Got 2-2.1% last year on 155kg N, @ 7.2 t/ha. so I was pleased with that.

I have never had an issue but I tended to use it a bit later with no trace elements.

We’re growing some fairing on a contract like that, have taken it to 165, looks fairly well. We don’t tend to struggle with high N around here.

Depends on your induction hopper. Mine would take 2-3 minutes to dissolve a bag.

It always settles at bottom of tank and blocks pipe to drain at bottom.

Yep, same problem here with it settling and binging bottom of tank. It’s a real art getting it in in such a way that doesn’t happen. Was less of a problem on my old JD sprayer as chemical from induction hopper wet into top of sprayer through filter basket. But it’s a nightmare with the Amazone.
