Sage

i use sage, it's an old version, in fact looking back the first entries were in 2001.
I understand how it works and am quite happy with its logic, but I feel tempted to move onto the current version in order to make use of the banking link.
So I'm looking for advice about the usefulness of the bank link,
Or any other thoughts.
Currently my sage costs nothing, but I am aware that customer help has also been suspended, which is also a reason I'm thinking it might be time to up grade.
I've not needed customer help for probably 10 years, but I am naturally suspicious that computer programmes might 'know' when to start giving problems.

My accountant is quite happy with the way I present the figures to him, and I assume the newer sage is very similar to my old version in that respect.
It is more the bank feed to help with reconsiliation that I'm interested if anyone has experience whether it does speed up that aspect of the job.

I too have been using an older version of Sage though probably not as old as your's.

After several phone calls from one of their salesmen I was able to upgrade to version 23.0 (2017), at a cost something like £360. Quite frankly, for the outlay I wish I had not bothered! Yes there are a few bells and whistles that speed up the data entry. The feature I especially wanted, iSage, to have a cloud storage to allow data entry from several locations, has been hopeless.

If you have not used Sage support for many years, the fact that it is not supported will not make any difference to using the software. The support that I got with the updated software is all internet based , not phone support. It seems they have enough sales staff to pester you about about updates, but will only give you phone support with an extra charge.

I have not tried the bank link. I find using the key board, as against the mouse, for bank reconciliation much quicker.

It is worth looking at sageforum.co.uk for the opinions of other sage users.

I've been using sage for a similar time. Recently I haven't been able to access it and tried reloading disc but it wouldn't work
Problem is I can't ask for support as I was given the disc as a copy when I did a night course at our local college for computer accounting
It looks like I will have to buy a new programme and hope the back up will work on it
