I am restoring an old 3 ton Salop trailer which was built in Shrewsbury by the Salop Trailer company, and I need to know if anyone has any of the original pale blue paint or just a sample so I can get some mixed. I know its a long shot because it was built about 50 years ago!!
Thanks!

Is it hydraulic or screw tip ?
I have a screw tip Salop and I would say the colour is close to leyland tractor blue but that is only a guess
The trailer is out of bounds at the moment but if you are not in rush you are welcome to see it, it is not far from
Newtown.
But I have just thought of something
Could the blue be the same as
Fordson Major and dexta from around
the same time

Yes after I sent message I remembered seeing Salop 4 wheel harvest trailers with dolly at front at farm sale just outside Welshpool painted green
I would think finding a Salop trailer in
Shropshire will not be difficult, you will
Probably find someone in the minsterly area that worked at Salop
Trailers
My trailer dates from the late 50's
Do you have IH 454 tractor?
I used to work at local IH dealer

Salop trailers were made between
Minsterly and pontesbury which is
now Pontesbury Tractors. I remember my late father saying during war when
working at Clarks he took trailer to have harvest gear made to Salop
Trailers
SKH were also importers of PZ and in
1979 the price of haybob dropped by
£200 because they lost the agency

I had a Salop 4.5 ton trailer in that blue / green colour bought in 1975. Also had muck spreaders from early 1960's that were in a blue very much like Fordson blue.

I have just thought of something......
From 1976 to 1980 I worked at main
IH dealer in Newtown who also had
depots at Shrewsbury and Newport for some reason sold Marshall trailers
It will remain a mystery as one of the
directors of Severn Engineering passed on 10 years ago and the other
is 96 and not well
Was there a long waiting time at Salop
trailers?

I suspect Marshall were cheaper, my father bought one but it went back, the wheelbase was too narrow and it quite literaally fell over
